With the arrival of dangerous heat and humidity this week, please take caution with your horses and with yourselves as well!Remember when caring for horses in high heat and humidity, to take time to care for yourself.💧 Drink plenty of water.☀ Apply and reapply sunscreen following label instructions.👕 Wear lightweight, light-colored loose-fitting clothing.🌳 Take frequent breaks in the shade or an air-conditioned building.🚫 Avoid strenuous activities.⚠️ Recognize signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke and act right away.Heat exhaustion:🟠 Dizziness🟠 Thirst🟠 Heavy sweating🟠 Nausea🟠 Weakness➡️ Move to a cooler area, loosen clothing, sip cool water, seek medical help if symptoms don't improveHeat stroke:🔴 Confusion🔴 Dizziness🔴 Become unconscious➡️ Call 911, move person to a cooler area, loosen clothing and remove extra layers, cool with water or iceFor more info on human heat safety visit: www.weather.gov/safety/heat-during ...
